Namadeva

Namadeva
(1270?-1305?)
A Maharastrian saint who was a man of low origin. Born in the latter part of the 13th century (circa 1270), Namadeva preached the unity of God and deprecated idol worship. He is reported to have spent considerable time in the Punjab, which explains his frequent use of Persian and Arabic words. In more ways than one, Namadeva was a precursor of Kabir.
